There are several responsibilities associated with Community-Based Research Internship:

 

 

1. Assist Dr. Nick Cutforth in identifying DU Faculty and students who are interested in undertaking community-based research in various capacities.

 

2. Work with Metro Organizations for People to define how community-based research can be incorporated into its organizing process; complete 1 on 1 interviews with MOP leaders and staff to discuss regional and state wide issues, as well as MOP's community organizing vision for the future; envision how MOP and DU can forge a workingrelationship around community-based research.

 

3. Identify other research universities that have developed relationships with community organizations to create community-based research institutes within the United States. This includes researching best practices through data information and interviewing key figures involved in developments these research institutions.

 

4. Identify local, state, and national funding sources that have funded similar projects such as a community-based research institute. This includes researching best practices through data information and interviewing key figures involved in funding community based-research institutes.

 

5. Work with the Center for Service Learning and Civic Engagement at DU to gather necessary information to create a practical timeline and skeleton model for the implementation of a community-based research institute; make preliminary recommendations on how MOP and DU can work together to develop a partnership that will lead to the development of a community-based research institute; make these recommendations with the assistance of MOP and DU staff and faculty."
