Back pain is a problem that affects over 70% of the population in their lifetime. The cause can vary, although it’s rare for the cause to be a physiological condition. About 3-8% of most cases are resulting from ‘specific’ back pain, which may have serious underlying issues.
The remaining 92-97% of sufferers are deemed to have ‘non-specific’ back pain. These are issues which have a reason for being there that cannot be easily idenitifed by doctors. However, Alexander Technique teachers are trained to identify the movement habits which can underline non-specific back pain. They are able to spot harmful movement habits and teach you how to move with more ease and freedom.
By dealing with the root cause of the problem, the symptom (i.e back pain) because a thing of the past. Although the Alexander Technique has been around for over 100 years, it has only recently seen a new wave of interest as British Medical Journal ran a study which showed favorable results in a randomized control test.
